I believe the most important goal for the future is to be a professional working in the force that is the Canadian fashion industry, expanding my experience as a fashion communicator and evolving my skills onto a greater level of both creativity and professionalism. I expect to be drawn to a job that requires great creativity involving the digital illustration field. On a personal level, freedom of expression is the most important quality, and more than naming just one profession that I would see myself involved with in 5 or 10 years, I desire for something bigger than just one classification. I aspire to create and design with graphic qualities a wide arrange of components, to be proud of my work and see it evolve and interact with individuals other than myself. Overall I see my future self as a professional who works by evolving her visions into tangible design elements for the world to see.

Within the next 10 years I want to take what I have learned about body image and become more involved with the sports industry by learning about how fashion is becoming an increasingly important aspect of it. The market for active wear is growing rapidly, and my goal is to be part of the positivity and the motivational themes that correspond with the industry. My goal for the future is to contribute to the growth of social ideals by communicating a message of living a positive, confident and independent life.

Although 5 – 10 years is an extensive amount of time to predict, I have plenty of goals that I would like to accomplish within that time frame. These are a couple that I’ve thought to be important to me personally. Within the next 5 years, I will complete my undergraduate degree and begin working within an industry or have started building my own business of which I can be proud of, along with improving my language skill set in French/Japanese/Mandarin/Korean. Within 10 years, I envision travelling to other countries (or places I would like to see) not only for the experience but also for work or volunteer with NGOs that I support. In general – learning more about the world & its people, and being able to provide a variety of aid to those who may need it.

Even 5 years seems like an eternity from now to me, how does someone even think that far ahead? To be perfectly honest I have little to no idea of what my career plans are for the future. If there is one thing that I am sure of however, its that I will one day live in England and having the chance to spend more time with my family on the other side of the pond. London, being one of the fashion capitals of the world, would be an amazing place for me to explore different options and I’ve always loved the atmosphere and culture there. Ultimately, I hope to come back to Canada and we’ll just have to see where life takes me from there.

Over the next five to ten years I plan to travel throughout Europe with friends to discover new cultures and lifestyles, live and work in New York City for a year, run half a marathon and purchase my first king-sized bed. Jetting off to Australia is first on my list come September. My mum is an Italiana who grew up in Melbourne, and bless her heart, applied for my Auzzie citizenship, too. It’s an amazing opportunity, not to mention the massive famiglia I have waiting there for me with open arms! My plan is to find a job or internship with a successful, and up and coming Australian fashion company (One Teaspoon, Lover..there’s so many great ones!) learn, and gather new perspective. Upon my return to Toronto, I plan to apply for a graduate program abroad…I’m stuck somewhere between New York and Europe at the moment. A goal is simply a dream with a timeline, and I can’t wait to get going!
