THE RUNWAY

For over twenty-six years, Ryerson University’s graduating fashion students have come together to showcase their creative talents through Mass Exodus, comprised of The Runway and The Exhibit. The Runway sets the stage for the graduating Fashion Design, giving them an opportunity to present their collections to the industry and public.

Ryerson University’s School of Fashion is proud to present Mass Exodus 2014. This year, The Runway will consist of two shows on Thursday, April 3rd, 2014 at 12:30pm and 6:00pm at the Mattamy Athletic Centre at The Gardens.

Mass Exodus 2014 is inspired by the tension between structure and chaos. Structure will be represented through discipline and control; however, chaos is frantic, uncontrollable and unexpected. Fashion leaders’ design process mirrors this tension, beginning with structure then transforming into a creative chaos as ideas evolve. The juxtaposition of these two concepts demonstrates how they coexist despite their differing nature; these two elements complement each other resulting in a natural clarity.

As we embark on our journey of innovation, we see first hand the struggle between strategy and creativity; a process in which differences become one and lead into a final creation. We begin to understand that nothing is what it seems.
